MATAHARIKU sets sail for the Togean Islands
The Togean Islands are a chain of remote isles situated in the Tomini Sea in Northern Sulawesi. Home to the nomadic Bajo people who are known for skilled deep dive fishing with nothing but wooden goggles and spears, the Togeans are a fascinating archipelago brimming with culture, wildlife and a treasure chest of marine life.
Our 40-metre phinisi style schooner MatahariKu is the first private charter yacht to embark on this remote and exciting journey. Highlights include:
- Hiking the foothills of Mount Una Una where volcanic smoke rises from the earth
- Trekking past local villages and stopping to cool off at pristine waterfalls hidden in the jungle
- Exploring the well-preserved WWII Bomber wreck
- Snorkelling and diving at Apollo, a steep underwater slope with beautiful coral and schooling fish
